NACE FirstService is working diligently to address questions and inquiries regarding CORROSION 2021. We ask for your patience and understanding as we address all inquiries in the order in which they are received. We have developed the following FAQs to assist you in obtaining an answer quickly. Please check this website periodically for updates.

General Information

Q: Why did NACE decide not to host CORROSION 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah?

A: Due to the State of Utah’s COVID-19 limitations on group gatherings, CORROSION 2021 can no longer take place at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City. Fortunately, after the postponement and eventual cancellation of our 2020 event, we prepared for this possibility and will host a virtual CORROSION Conference & Expo April 19-30, 2021.

Q: What is the status of committee meetings I planned to attend at CORROSION 2021? Will they be rescheduled?

A: NACE staff liaisons will work with committee officers to determine the best path forward for their committees to meet this Spring. Staff liaisons will begin outreach in mid-January and plan to publish a revised schedule no later than February 15, 2021.

Q: Is NACE planning on cancelling or postponing any other events scheduled for 2021?

A: At this moment all other in-person or virtual events that NACE and SSPC have planned are moving forward as scheduled. However, if an event must be postponed or canceled, we will notify all participants in advance.

Registration

Q: What do I do if I deferred my registration from CORROSION 2020 to CORROSION 2021?

A: Any deferred registration fees will be applied to CORROSION2021 Virtual Conference & Expo. If you prefer to transfer the fees to a different event or product, or request a refund, NACE International’s FirstService team can be reached at firstservice@nace.org or by phone at 1-800-797-6223 (U.S./Canada) or +1-281-228-6223 worldwide. Refund requests must be received by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, January 22, 2021.

Q: Can I defer my CORROSION 2020 registration to 2022 Annual Conference?

A: Yes. If you prefer to transfer the fees to the 2022 Annual Conference, NACE International’s First Service team can be reached at firstservice@nace.org or by phone at 1-800-797-6223 (U.S./Canada) or +1-281-228-6223 worldwide. Transfer requests must be received by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, January 22, 2021.

Q: When will the registration page open for the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo? And how much is registration?

A: Registration will open in late January 2021. The pricing for the event is:

Programming and Education

Q: I was scheduled to present at CORROSION 2021. Will I still be able to present? (This includes: Technical Symposia, Corrosive Chronicles, and Forums)

A: Authors who were scheduled to present at CORROSION 2021 can present at the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo by completing the virtual speaker agreement. All authors must complete the speaker agreement AND ensure that their employer will allow their presentation to be recorded and remain available on-demand in the event platform until October 31, 2021. Authors who do not submit a completed speaker agreement by this date will be removed from the conference schedule. The speaker agreement and updated deadlines will be sent to authors/presenters the week of January 4, 2021.  The speaker agreement must be completed by Friday, January 22, 2021.

Q: What if I miss the January 22, 2021 deadline for speaker agreement form submission? (This includes: Technical Symposia, Corrosive Chronicles and Forums)

A: To produce a virtual conference of this magnitude, we cannot accept any submissions after the deadline of January 22, 2021.

Q: I’m scheduled to present in a technical symposium at CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo. Are there new deadlines to submit my paper?

A: Yes, to ensure that NACE provides a solid, robust virtual event some of the deadlines will need to shift to accommodate virtual production needs. Updated deadlines will be sent to authors/presenters the week of January 4, 2021.

Q: I was scheduled to present at CORROSION 2020 but will be unable to present at the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo.  Are there other opportunities for my presentation content to be delivered through NACE?

A: Yes, authors unable to participate in CORROSION 2021 have several options available. Note: Submitting your work for consideration does not guarantee acceptance for publication.

Q: Will the conference proceedings still be available from the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo?

A: Yes, the technical papers presented virtually at CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo will be published digitally. All paid registrants will receive complimentary access to the digital conference proceedings following the event.

Q: My presentation was scheduled for CORROSION 2021– can I submit it to another organization?

A: Yes, your abstract can be submitted to other organizations. Please note, if you present the content elsewhere, you will be unable to present the same published work again at the 2022 Annual Conference.

Q: If I had a meeting scheduled for CORROSION 2021 will it be automatically rescheduled for CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo?

A: Meetings for CORROSION 2021 will not be automatically rescheduled. Staff liaisons will work with committee officers to determine the best path forward for their committees to meet this Spring. Q: If I was scheduled to present in a Forum or Corrosive Chronicle Theater session, will I be able to present at the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo?

A: Presenters for Forums and Corrosive Chronicle Theater sessions will be given the opportunity to present at the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo. Presenters will be required to complete a new Virtual Speaker Agreement. Q: If I was scheduled to present in the Protective Coatings Workshop will I be able to present at the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo?

A: Yes. Presenters in the Protective Coating Workshop will begiven the opportunity to present in the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference &Expo. Presenters will be required to complete a new virtual speaker agreement. The speaker agreement and updated deadlines will be sent to presenters the week of January 4, 2021.  Please reach out to Meghan Leyva at Meghan.Leyva@nace.org if you have any questions.

Q: I am unable to participate in the virtual event. Can I withdraw my abstract?

A: Yes, please email papers@nace.org to notify staff that you need to withdraw your paper no later than Friday, January 22, 2021.

Q: Could you provide a concise table that outlines the milestones for the CORROSION 2020 event in June to ensure I do not miss a deadline?

A: Below you’ll find a table that provides an overview of revised deadlines to accommodate the necessary elements of delivering our event virtually.  Staff encourages individuals involved in symposia (Authors, Chairs/Vice Chairs) to add these dates to their personal calendar to not miss the dates.

Research and Student Poster Sessions

Q: Will NACE consider a virtual student poster presentation?

A: NACE staff will meet with member leaders from the Research Committee in the January to discuss the best path forward for the topics from CORROSION 2021 and how we can effectively transition the content to a virtual format.  As soon as information is available, we will send an update to all individuals involved with the Student Poster Session.

Q: What will happen to the Research in Progress and Research Topical Symposia planned for CORROSION 2020? Can I still submit for Research in Progress?

A: NACE staff will meet with member leaders from the Research Committee in January to discuss the best path forward for the topics from CORROSION 2021 and how we can effectively transition the content to a virtual format.  As soon as information is available, we will send an update to all individuals involved with the RIP/RTS symposia.

Exhibits and Sponsorships

Q: Will exhibit booth fees be refunded?

A: Any booth product fees will be applied to the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference& Expo. Exhibitors may transfer their fees to a different event or product, to Coatings+ 2021, to the 2022 Annual Conference, or request a refund. *Please complete the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo Status Form by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, January 22, 2021.  Any unused funds can be applied to other products or refunded. Q: What do I do if I deferred my exhibit from CORROSION 2020 to CORROSION 2021?

A: All 2020 exhibitors who chose to defer their exhibit are prioritized for CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo. For exhibitors who prefer to transfer their fees to a different event or product or to Coatings+ 2021, to the 2022 Annual Conference, or to receive a refund, please complete the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo Status Form by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, January 22, 2021. After that date, any remaining exhibitors and sponsors will automatically be transferred to the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo.

Q: Will sponsorship fees be refunded?

A: Any sponsorship fees will be applied to the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo. Q: Our company is involved in the coatings industry. Now that NACE and SSPC are merging, can we defer our exhibitor/sponsorship fees to participate in the Coatings+ 2021 event scheduled to take place in Phoenix, Arizona from December 13-16, 2021?

A: Yes. Please complete the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo Status Form by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, January 22, 2021 to indicate your interest in deferring your participation to Coatings+ 2021.

Q: What do I do if I deferred my sponsorship from CORROSION 2020?

A: Sponsors who deferred their sponsorship to CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo will be contacted in January with more information about actions taken to ensure their business receives the most exposure possible.

For sponsors who prefer to defer to a different event or product, transfer their fees to Coatings+ 2021, to the 2022 Annual Conference, or request a refund, please complete the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo status form by 5 p.m. CDT on Friday, January 22, 2021. After that date, any remaining sponsors will automatically be transferred to CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo.

Q: What if I do not want to transfer my exhibitor or sponsorship funds to another event? Is it possible to reallocate my fees to other opportunities that will maximize my investment and exposure to the corrosion community?

A: Yes. Please complete the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo Status Form and select ‘Transfer to another NACE event or product (i.e., digital media lead generation package, certification, education, membership or standards)’ from the drop down menu. Q: A third-party company contacted me about purchasing the CORROSION 2020/2021 attendee or exhibitor list, is this a legitimate list?

A: No. NACE International does not provide (or sell) our exhibitor lists or attendee lists to companies; we do provide a GDPR compliant list of registered attendees who have each personally opted-in to being included on the list. NACE International has been made aware of several “unofficial” companies contacting our exhibitors and sponsors by phone and email, to solicit business, attendee lists, hotel rooms, etc. If you are contacted by anyone attempting to sell an attendee list, please forward the email or contact information to staff so a cease and desist letter can be sent to the company. If you are concerned by any other solicitations you receive related to our conference, please forward it to us to confirm legitimacy of the vendor.

Q: Is there still time to submit an abstract for the Research in Progress sessions or the Student Poster Session for the CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo?

NACE Foundation Questions

Q: How can I support the NACE Foundation since it will not have the opportunity to host fundraising events at the 2021 conference?

A: Tax-deductible donations can be made to the NACE Foundation at any time via their website:  https://nace-foundation.org/take-action/donate or by calling +1-281-228-6205.

Q: What do I need to do if I registered for a NACE Foundation event at CORROSION 2021 (Golf Tournament, NACE Race, GenNEXT Bash)?

A: If you registered for an event, you may defer your registration to 2022, request a refund, or donate your registration fee to the NACE Foundation. Please contact NACE First Service at  1-800-797-6223 or firstservice@nace.org to discuss options.

CORROSION 2022

Q: Will the 2022 Annual Conference booth selection for exhibitors still take place?

A: Yes. NACE exhibits staff will send information via email to the main exhibit contact for each company regarding the 2022 Annual Conference booth assignment. The booth selection process will be administered remotely and will proceed according to exhibitor priority point order. Q: What will happen to my priority points as a result of the changes to CORROSION 2021 Virtual Conference & Expo?

A: Current priority points will carry over for the 2022 Annual Conference booth selection process.

Q: What are the dates for the 2022 Annual Conference ?

A: The 2022 Annual Conference is scheduled to be held in San Antonio, TX from March 6-10, 2022.

Q: When will registration and housing information become available for the 2022 Annual Conference?

A: The 2022 Annual Conference registration and housing information will be available in October 2021.

Q: When will the call for abstracts for the 2022 Annual Conference be launched?

A: The Call for Abstracts will open in March 2021.
